WELCOME A couple of years ago. I asked the CEO of a major car maker Tesla's bespoke charging network is a real boon for owners of its cars' If their company would get involved with efforts to improve the UK charging network, and was told: *No. that's a job for the Government, not us* You can see the thinking: if it's going to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 (now delayed to 2035), it'll also ensure that chargers are sufficiently numerous, widespread and affordable to access, right? But not every manufacturer relied on this happening, with one in particular deciding it could do a better job itself. Yes. I'm talking about Tesla, whose own Superchargers often massively outnumber the public units and are very reasonably priced - as long as you're a Tesla owner. We were reminded of these strengths - and others - when we drove a Tesla Model 3 and an MG 4 to Cornwall (turn to p70 for more). Suffice to say. if the Government wants to make the most of those extra five years, it could do a lot worse than look to Tesla's network for inspiration. Target Price The What Cor?
