The School Year
by Rob
The school year starts at the beginning
of September. It’s autumn and we have
great fun. One special day in autumn is
November 5th - Guy Fawkes’ Day. On this
day we make a Guy - a man - from paper
and old clothes. Then we burn him on a
bonfire and have fireworks.
Winter is the football season. I play
football for the school team. Every
Saturday there’s a football match with
another school and our team usually wins.
But sometimes it’s snowy and we can’t
play football.
I like spring and we usually have a good
time at school. We always go on
excursions in spring. We visit interesting
places - castles and museums. We go by
coach and we take sandwiches with us for
lunch.

At twelve o’clock we watched the
feeding of the pelicans. The keeper
dropped some fish in the pool and the
pelicans dived for it. Then Lily and I
walked to the Touch Centre. In the Touch
Centre there are a lot of animals and you
can touch and stroke them. My cousin
tried to touch a wallaby - a small
kangaroo - but it hopped away. Then
1 stroked a sheep and I touched a goat!
Finally we looked at the monkeys. They
played games and climbed the trees.
The parents carried the baby monkeys
and jumped around. We laughed a lot

Dear Vicki and Ken,
I like reading the In Touch Club newsletter
because it helps me with my English. I like
reading letters from children. I think they're
more interesting than the other things in the
newsletter.
I'm sending you some photos of Russia.
The first photo shows the Kremlin in Moscow
in the winter, you have bad winters in
England but I'm sure Russian winters are
worse!
Moscow is not a modern city. It has got a
lot of famous old buildings. I think Moscow is
more beautiful than London and it's safer!
I know that London and New york are
exciting cities and they have a lot of great
shops. In Russia, CDs and clothes are more
expensive. We haven't got many fast food
restaurants but Russian food is better than
hamburgers. Look at me in the second photo.
I'm eating typical Russian food. It s very tasty!
