O n October 7th, Hamas, the Iran-backed terror group controlling Gaza, launched an unprovoked and vicious surprise attack on Israel. In this brutal attack, more than 360 young partygoers were shot, and many women were brutally raped and burnt to death by Hamas attackers, who stormed the festival site near the Israel-Gaza perimeter fence early that morning. Over 40 young people from the Nova festival are still held hostage. This attack on innocent, peace-loving people from Israel and different countries around the globe was brutal and evil incarnate and was only the first step of the attack on Israeli citizens on this early morning when Hamas started firing barrages of rockets toward the southern and central parts of the country. On October 7th, Hamas terrorists murdered over 1,200 Israelis, including 40 babies, kidnapped 240 civilians into Gaza, and today are still holding over 135 men, women, and children, in captivity, wounded thousands, and fired thousands of rockets against Israeli cities and towns. Art Market Magazine An Exclusive, Intimate Interview It is a great pleasure to present an interview with you, Lika, and to feature your works; unfortunately, this interview is being conducted in the shadow of the war and under extreme pain. Can you share your feelings and memories from the terrible morning of October 7th? Where did this attack on Israel find you? LIKA RAMATI: On the morning of October 7th, I was abruptly awakened at 6:30 am by the blaring sirens; I quickly made my way to the shelter room in my Tel Aviv apartment. The immediate realization that something terrible was happening hung heavy in the air. ART MARKET MAGAZINE: 17

Roses and tears. Digital Art, 50×50 cm, Quality print. Signed and numbered. Limited Edition 1/3. Lika Ramati © All rights reserved. We turned on the television, and the horrible news began to unfold as time passed. In the first days of the war, it felt like we were glued to the news, watching the horror of the situation unfolding right before our eyes. Israelis and Jewish people from all over the world were in a state of shock for many days and even weeks because of this catastrophic, brutal attack. As an artist who expresses feelings through creativity, was it hard for you to continue to create art? ART MARKET MAGAZINE: It feels like we're still in shock from October 7th; that day seems to have a lasting hold on us. Who knows for how long. Quickly, instinctively, I turned back to my art; within just a few days, the need to find a way to express my overwhelming emotions of pain, anger, and confusion became urgent. LIKA RAMATI: In your project "The Nova Star," we see an extreme romanticization of the terrible Massacre. The young figures are peacefully lying dead in a romantic comforter flower space. What is the philosophical idea behind this project? In the face of such tragedy, a Hebrew blessing came to my mind: "Tehiyeh Menuchatam Eden," which translates to "May their rest be in Eden." Eden, symbolizing a place of tranquility and paradise in the afterlife, conveys the hope that the departed find peaceful repose in a divine and serene realm. You are an awardwinning international artist who has exhibited in galleries for the past twenty years. Your work is primarily recognizable as a fashionable art, expressing women's beauty and worshiping for aesthetics. This Solo exhibition and the Nova Project are a shift in your artistic style, with much more profound and expressed pain not only for the loss of young people but for the Jewish state in general. What can you tell us about using the Jewish Magen David and the symbolizing in your work? ART MARKET MAGAZINE: ART MARKET MAGAZINE: It was so sad to see so many young and beautiful people lose their lives in this attack. All the people from the Nova Festival, all of them young and beautiful, running for their lives, the children in the kibbutzim who were murdered in cold blood, a pure Horror. LIKA RAMATI: Art Market Magazine Utilizing symbolism in my art during times of crisis was an instinctive protective response. Symbols, often laden with more profound cultural or personal significance, serve as powerful tools to convey messages and evoke emotions. One such symbol that holds immense recognition is the Star of David (Magen David), also known as the Shield of David. It is a prominent symbol of Judaism, representing not just Jewish identity but also traditions and values. LIKA RAMATI: 19
The Shield of David. Digital Art, 70 x 70 cm, Quality print. Signed THE NOVA STAR My connection to this symbol goes beyond its cultural significance. Growing up in Lithuania, which was once part of the USSR, our Jewish identity was a significant concern; there was a lot of antisemitism. However, when my family immigrated to Israel, The first golden necklace I received as a gift was a Star of David, making it a profoundly symbolic representation of my journey and identity. 20 and numbered. The surge of antisemitism worldwide is deeply alarming. There's a concerning lack of understanding about Israel, the Palestinian issue, various terrorist organizations, and the profound impact of the Holocaust on history. The Holocaust has left an indelible mark on human rights awareness, prompting global efforts to prevent such atrocities. Nevertheless, on October 7th, a horrific incident unfolded, with people being slaughtered solely because they were Jewish. Historically, Holocaust education played a vital role in fostering awareness, tolerance, and the prevention of genocide. Unfortunately, it appears that these lessons have been forgotten by many worldwide. The current stance of the art community is disheartening, as it seems to lean towards antisemitism under the guise of so-called political correctness. There's a noticeable tendency to overlook the atrocities initiated by Hamas terrorists, the unimaginable barbaric crimes against the Israeli people. Observing the silence or pro-Palestinian alignment in the art world is disappointing, especially among female artists. LIKA RAMATI: Art Market Magazine Nova #3 . Gratefully, my creative spirit remains active. I engage in art every day, even amidst the chaos of this surreal reality. Undeniably, the reality is harrowing – missile attacks, an ongoing war, daily losses of soldiers, and the continuous revelation of details about the October 7th attack. The multitude of horrific stories and survivor testimonials seems unending. In a small country like Israel, everyone knows someone who has been affected – whether murdered, kidnapped, or lost in battle. On a brighter note, amid the turmoil, tales of bravery and heroism emerge from the events of October 7th. Almost immediately, people rallied to volunteer, offering time and money to support those in need. Countless civilian organizations and groups have formed to aid the victims, soldiers, and the return of hostages to their homes. Witnessing the unity and generosity of the Israeli people are truly remarkable. I am proud of my country, a sentiment I didn't fully appreciate before October 7th. LIKA RAMATI: Art Market Magazine

Despite the challenges, I hope for the future, confident that we will overcome, heal, and rebuild. Let's talk about your unique technique. First, where does the inspiration come from? Do you feel influenced by specific artists, cultures, or artistic movements? ART MARKET MAGAZINE: The list is extensive, with many brilliant creators who have influenced me. I draw inspiration from a broad spectrum, encompassing cinema, art, architecture, music, fashion, history, spirituality, and philosophy. Additionally, the LIKA RAMATI: 24 wonders of nature and the appreciation of beauty significantly shape my creative outlook. Do you create sketches before starting the artwork? What is your work process, from the step of the idea until the final outcome. ART MARKET MAGAZINE: In my usual creative process, I research subjects that interest me. I read, spend time reflecting on the topic, and write notes. At times, inspiration strikes spontaneously—whether in a dream, a person, or an emotion. The journey toward the final result involves considerable experimentation until I achieve the desired result. LIKA RAMATI: Art Market Magazine

ART MARKET MAGAZINE: Is most of your art based on your photography work along with digital manipulation? What applications do you use for your work? And what is the importance of post-processing in your art? I use various tools and technologies, including photography, Photoshop, AI, and all kinds of software and digital filters. LIKA RAMATI: How long does it take to reach the final outcome? Do you always get your goals? (Does the result fit perfectly with the first idea that came to your mind in the first place?) achieving a completely different result than initially intended. Such deviations are acceptable to me. The process of creating art is a type of meditation. It has the power to transport you to realms guided by your soul or higher self. What is your opinion regarding AI development? Many artists are exploring this field and selling their artworks made by an app. Did you use AI in your works of art? ART MARKET MAGAZINE: ART MARKET MAGAZINE: I take a liberating approach to art, where I may begin with one idea but am open to LIKA RAMATI: Art Market Magazine I believe the AI tools for art are a significant Art Revolution. I use AI in my art; it's an incredible tool. Granting me great freedom to explore and experiment with new mediums and art styles. LIKA RAMATI: From your personal journey in the art field, what will be your advice to the young artist looking for a way of development? ART MARKET MAGAZINE: Embrace experimentation, engage in studies and research, be curious, and avoid becoming confined by rigid rules and regulations. Open your mind to new mediums and innovations. Exposure to all kinds of art forms is significant. Only through observing a wide range of art can you cultivate your unique personal taste and style. LIKA RAMATI: TLV #1 & #2. In 2012, he was a keynote speaker in Yokohama at the International Travel Mart, presenting his series on Japanese ryokans and hot springs In the wake of the country's tsunami and at the Travel Photography Festival at the Royal Geographical Society in London. In 2013, his first book on South Korea and his second book on North Korea were released with a book tour, including stops at the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena, the Korea Society in New York, and the Newseum in Washington, DC. A 3rd edition of "The Way of the Japanese Bath" was released in 2019. Mark's recent book, "The People of the Forest," is focused on orangutans. It is a great pleasure to interview one of the most influential photographers in the world! 33
AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH Sandra, BorneanSumatran orangutan, Center for Great Apes. Mark Edward Harris © All rights reserved. MARK EDWARD HARRIS INTERNATIONAL AWARD-WINNING PHOTOGRAPHER BY JOSÉ JEULAND José Jeuland: Many thanks, Mark, for your time and effort to have an interview with Art Market Magazine. It's a pleasure to feature your magnificent work. You are considered by many as one of the most influential photographers of our generation documenting unique cultural life and events. How does it make you feel when you hear people describe you as one of the most influential photographers of our generation? Mark Edward Harris: I'm not sure I deserve that high compliment, but the words are very much appreciated. I feel that many of the 34 Azy, Bornean - Sumatran orangutan, International Orangutan Center. Mark Edward Harris © All rights reserved. projects I do are an effort to put a human face on issues worldwide. Too often, I see people grouped "en masse" in the political arena as well as the media, and it's essential to see them as individuals. I'm honored when publications such as Lens Magazine help me get the word out, that in essence, we're all the same. In my series on a fellow great ape, orangutans, my goal is to help bring attention to the serious issues they face in the wild due to habitat destruction in their native Borneo and Sumatra. Humans and orangutans share about 97 percent of the same DNA, and in the portrait part of the series, I hope to convey these highly sentient beings' individuality. J. J.: Back in the 80's you graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with a Master of Arts Degree in Pictorial/Documentary History and started your career as a professional photographer. Looking back at your academic study, would you say it's a "must" for photographers to have educational experience for having a successful career? M. E. H.: Education comes in many ways. For some, such as my friends Sandro Miller and Joey Lawrence, Art Market Magazine
Kiki, Bornean-Sumatran orangutan, Center for Great Apes. Mark Edward Harris © All rights reserved. who goes by Joey L, that education comes from an incredible amount of street knowledge. Others, such as Sebastiao Salgado, have a formal education that very much informs their work. And that education is not necessarily in studying photography. In Salgado's case, his study of economics is shown in the types of long-term projects he takes on. The more depth we have as individuals, the more depth we will have in our photographs. There are many paths to get to the same place. I think assisting other photographers is extremely helpful in learning the tools of trade and better understanding the photography business. J. J.: Your experience during the past three decades moves from travel photography, documentary, wildlife, advertising photography to even a television director. This is unique and unusual; most photographers focus only on one field, but you also succeed significantly in each area, receiving international awards. What led you to move and develop in each of these fields? M. E. H.: I'm very much driven by instinct rather than economics. If something feels right, I will often pursue it. Some projects take hold while others feel like it might be best to shelve them. Photographers such as Jeanloup Sieff never let themselves be cubbyholed into a single genre. I do recognize that it can be confusing for photo editors or art directors when they're selecting

a photographer for an assignment to see a variety pack of images. Hence, I carefully divide my website into different categories as well as presenting a few of the same types of images at a time on Instagram. Therefore, there's a sense of cohesion. In terms of genres, documentary photography is definitely on the top of my list because of my endless fascination with history. J. J.: Let's talk about your magnificent Orangutan series "Eyes Are The Window To The Soul." This project demonstrates the individuality of each primate as well as their clear awareness of self. The series won at the 2018 Sony's World Photography Awards and the Prix De La Photographie State of the World 2020 Awards. Tell us about how it all started. Where did you find these orangutans, and what led you to do this project? M. E. H.: I initially to use the title "Eyes are the Window to the Soul" after photographing the orangutans at the International Orangutan Center in Indianapolis. It became apparent immediately that there were sentient beings looking back at me through the opposite side of the lens. I ended up changing the title for my latest book to "The People of the Forest," which is what the word orangutan translates to in Malay and Indonesian. As I became more and more aware of the plight orangutans are facing in the wild due to habitat destruction, I began to delve deeper and deeper into the project including two trips to Borneo. J. J.: From a technical aspect, how did you make them sit so calm in front of the camera? One of the portraits is even described as the "Orangutan Mona Lisa," with its emotional look and smile. M. E. H.: It was entirely up to the orangutans whether they wanted to be photographed or not and whether they wanted to look at the camera. In reality, they would most often just sit down for a brief moment, look me over to see what I was up to, and then move on. The magic of photography is that this 1/250th of a second exposure makes it feel that we're having a long Art Market Magazine Kim, Bornean orangutan, International Orangutan Center. At the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation and in the Singapore Zoo, they were sitting on a tree stump or table I had covered with a black backdrop, and there was no divider between us. When the orangutans decided the session was over, it was over. J. J.: How do you arrange the light for this project? M. E. H.: StellaPro as a constant light source and Profoto strobes for flash situations when I need to completely overwhelm the ambient light. I need to handhold the light on a monopod and move around to get the angle on the orangutans' faces since they are constantly moving. 37

I learned from Eve Arnold years ago that it was important for a freelance photographer to have long-term projects that would smooth out the times between being overwhelmed with assignments and sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. Her major book, "In China," was the result of that approach. I think my North Korea, Japanese hot spring, photographer portrait series, and orangutan projects, in particular, comes out of that kind of approach to a life in photography. J. J.: What motivates you to continue taking pictures economically, politically, intellectually, or emotionally? M. E. H.: My endless fascination with history is constantly opening up new opportunities. I'm especially interested in the asides of history, the lesser-known stories surrounding significant events. J. J.: What does the future hold? (Exhibitions/workshops/ new projects) Is there any specific project you would like to focus on in the upcoming years? Bino, Sumatran orangutan, Singapore Zoo. Mark Edward Harris © All rights reserved. In places where it is possible to put up a back/sidelight, I put a head on a stand held down by a Matthews FlyAway Sandbag, which I can fill up on the location. I just got their small C-Stand, which breaks down and fits into my Think Tank Production Manager rolling bag with my lights and other stands, making the projects I'm shooting solo on the road more feasible. Art Market Magazine J. J.: From your experience during the years, what is the most challenging part about being a photographer for you? M. E. H.: The freelance life can yield incredible rewards but comes along with its own set of stresses. Assignments come and go, editors change at publications, technology is always evolving. Freelancers have to stay on top of this constant flux. M. E. H.: I'm teaming up with some other photographer friends to teach workshops, including Michelle Valberg, whom I co-taught with in the Arctic Circle on a ship, and Sandro Miller who I taught with in India and China. Deanne Fitzmaurice, Nick Ut and I plan to pick up where we left off to do some workshops in Europe once the pandemic gets under control. I learn so much from these other photographers as well as from all the photographers I've interviewed, which fits into my interest in documenting history. I list my workshops on my website and have a bunch more that will be 39

These days I'm shooting mostly with a Nikon D850 and did have a lot of success in Borneo's jungles with the Nikon Z7. Eventually, I'll migrate over to the mirrorless system. J. J.: What advice do you have for young photographers who want to succeed in the field? M. E. H.: Work hard and never have excuses. I grew up with a father who had a severe case of polio but never let that get in his way. He had a great career behind the scenes in the radio and television business. INTERNATIONAL AWARD-WINNING PHOTOGRAPHER MARK EDWARD HARRIS Work hard and never have excuses. Young photographers might also find inspiration by reading the path that Gordon Parks took in his book, "Voices in the Mirror." - MARK EDWARD HARRIS The ideal is still to team up with a great writer such as I have with Pico Iyer for a Vanity Fair story on North Korea, Tim Neville, for a story in Kurdish Iraq for the New York Times, Drex Heikes for a story on the Yangtze for the LA Times Magazine. Still, I don't have to be dependent on it. Young photographers might also find inspiration by reading the path that Gordon Parks took in his book, "Voices in the Mirror." I think it should be on every high school reading list regardless as to whether they are interested in becoming photographers or not. It's about his life's journey of rising above omnipresent racism. I've also gained immeasurably from working in a darkroom during my formative photography years. You really feel the exposures when you're dialing them in on an enlarger. I haven't loaded a roll of film into a camera in 15 years and haven't stepped into a darkroom this century, but I think it's great that a number of younger photographers are working with film. I would like, however, to see them go the full distance with it. That is, put their negatives in an enlarger and witness the true magic of an image revealing itself in the developer tray. That feeling and sense of awe about photography and its ability to freeze a moment in time have never left me. Since a young age, he has painted nature in its complexity. His passion for gardening made him discover flowers, which he always drew and painted in oil using a complex and traditional technique. Montana paints the flowers in his garden. He draws the flowers during the summer and imagines the compositions he will later create on canvas, even in autumn or winter, when the vegetation "falls asleep." In his paintings, the viewer discovers a realistic sense of depth with a stunning, unique touch. That makes you want to pick the flower and smell its blossom scent. 69

DEBORAH ZANIOLLI When I paint, it feels like I'm between losing my mind and finding my soul. Art is like a sweet suffering; at first, you don't see a direction, but in the end, you see the light." DEBORAH ZANIOLLI ABSTRACT Art eborah Zaniolli is a self-taught contemporary abstract artist who creates unique and unexpected works of art on canvas and paper. When she starts a painting, she gives the art freedom to find its way, and most of the time, she doesn't know what the final result will be, but it's always a surprise to see the work get an unusual uniqueness, the work gets a bright and colorful side, a world full of colors, shapes, and happiness, sometimes it gets a darker side with shadows and black and white tones of despair. Zaniolli graduated in interior design in 2010 and in D 76 screenwriting in 2002; Deborah has a lot of creative ideas to put on paper and on canvas and lets the art express itself through her. Deborah was born in Brazil and moved to Israel with her family in 1999. Then, she returned to Brazil in 2011, where she married and became a mother. Since 2018, she's been back in Israel, living with her family, husband and daughter. In 2019, she discovered her true passion for painting, and every day, she learns new ways to express herself with her artwork, using different media techniques such as acrylic, oil pastel, charcoal sticks, markers, and more. "It's a creative process where I free my mind of everything and let my heart speak, so in the end, you never know what you will get. Art, for me, is like sweet suffering; at first, you don't see a direction, but in the end, you see the light. Painting is my personal therapy; it's how I express myself and let the feelings and thoughts flow through me straight to the canvas." Deborah Zaniolli Top: Deborah Zaniolli © All rights reserved. Sinuous lines and motifs inspired by nature characterized architecture, visual art, and design. Embracing modernity but rejecting the coldness of industrialism, Art Nouveau aimed to create a harmony between manmade and natural. Its timeless appeal lies in its fusion of beauty and functionality, leaving an indelible mark on the decorative arts and architectural aesthetics worldwide. The Bauhaus, a pioneering movement at the beginning of the 20th century, combined art, craft, and technology in design education. It sought to bridge aesthetics and functionality. AN ARTIST OF TRANSCENDENTAL INTIMACY Frank Kortan © All rights reserved. bY Prof. Dr. Miroslav Klivar, The member of The American Society for Aesthetics W hen perceiving the artistic creation of Frank Kortan, we are down if we want to apply the methods and clichés of classical art history. We have to turn to the newest spiritual and theoretical conceptions from various fields of anthropology. We are led to it by honest intentions to get into the aesthetics of Frank Kortan. The inspirations of this painter's artistic creation are near to the surrealistic aesthetics of free imagination and associations, Art Market Magazine the experience of subconscious and nonconscious defined by Freud. But not everything created by Kortan can be explained in this way. According to him, antitheses cease to be "real or imaginative"; he is a follower of the relativity of existence. When contemplating Kortan's artistic creation, we remember the words of André Breton from the Second Manifesto of Surrealism. He says that a surrealistic activity aims to define "a certain spiritual point from which life and death, real and Odd Juggler, 2009 Original Art. Oil on wood. 40 x 35 cm. Signed. imaginative, past and present, notifiable and unnotifiable, high and low cease to be perceived as antitheses." Kortan's everyday motives express his love of dreaming, which has been named "via regia" - nonconsciousness. Nevertheless, we cannot confine the perception of Kortan to classical psychoanalysis. It seems to us that the most truthful are concepts that Gaston Bachelard applied in his Phenomenology of Dreaming, where he distinguished the values of dreams. In this respect, Kortan is a master of absolute dreams and half-dreams. In his paintings full of "old" and "new" eternity, we register something, which is named "dreaming about dreaming." Kortan's absolute dream of a night's sleep is, in fact, a Universe. We acquaint with Kortan's animism: nothing is death in his still lives - everything is live. The activity of subconsciousness is evident: one motive is replaced by another; psychical accents are transferred to other ones. Aesthetic condensation, defined by psychoanalysis, is substantial: two - or more - imaginations combine and create a more complex imagination with deeper meaning and stronger energy. We register out-of-sensuous perception, especially the transfer of aesthetic meanings. As a matter of fact, Kortan is one of the world's avant-gardists because his paintings are near to "individual mythology," which is focused on the retrospective classification of the past and inspired by the "tracks of human civilization" and emphasizes "the re-vitalization of fragments." 104 Caviar Excursion, 2019 Original Art. While Anne and Patrick Poirier look for archeological inspirations, Nikolaus Lang depicts the atmosphere of a Bavarian family, and Jürgen Brodwolf paints miniature shop windows; Frank Kortan confines himself neither to a metaphor nor a concrete event. We have to point out Kortan's aesthetics, which reflects the out-of-sensuous psychology of C.A.Mace, who presupposes the existence of a "psychical ether" through which the waves of thought spread and in which the tracks of events remain. In addition, the aspect of temptation is presumed. If he did not admire the symbolic-sexual aspects of a woman nude, he would not be a surrealist. Nevertheless, these aspects oscillate between latent, evident, and mysterious in his artistic creation. These are the symbols of women. As unconsciousness follows the principles of delight and not reality - as we know from psychoanalysis - Kortan expresses the eternity of delight. He reminds the words by Nietzsche on his tablet in Sils-Maria See in Upper Engadin: "Every delight is eternity." Kortan invites introspection and purification from the sentimentality of civilization. He wants a man to be immune against any tie resulting from work and the world of things. In this respect, he is "transcendental." In this respect, we can cite an idea from Indian spiritual culture: "A work which does not cause any tie is a work with the transcendental result, i.e., karma-yoga." Kortan does not aim at the Absolute Personality of the Deity: he represents a happy soul and wants everybody to be like him... nyone who decides to become an artist, regardless of style, I can advise following these four tips: Find the best teacher, Be persistent, Stay humble, and Believe in luck! “ -Frank Kortan, F rank Kortan, born April 22, 1964, in Prague, Czech Republic, is a painter who works in Surrealism, Fantastic Realism, and Trompel’oeil. He won the World Prize of Salvador Dalí for fine arts. He currently lives in Egloffstein, Bavaria (Germany). Frank Kortan started his professional artistic career in Prague, Czechoslovakia as a musician. In 1984, he emigrated very adventurously to Ticino in Switzerland and moved again to Germany after one year. When Kortan arrived in Germany, it turned out that it was not easy to find a permanent job as a professional musician in the music genre of his expertise. Therefore, he looked for new opportunities, and as he had always been passionate about painting from a young age, he decided to become a painter. Oil painting as a supreme discipline has always fascinated him. Still, first, he wanted to study the perfect technique to implement his ideas and themes without technical limitations. From then on, Kortan started studying painting techniques very intensively. He met an artist group that worked in the “Trompe-l’oeil” style (“deceive the eye “), which means a representation of an object with such verisimilitude as to deceive the viewer concerning the material reality of the object. However, most painters, whether it was in the Middle Ages or the present, have used this technique only for classical still lives. That was not enough for him; he developed his style further and combined Trompel’oeil with Surrealism and Fantastic Realism. Although combining different styles is unusual, it fascinated him as it offered countless expression possibilities. Art Market Magazine

An Artist Of Transcendental Intimacy FRANK KORTAN
On the one hand, Surrealism is an expression of freedom of mind and imagination. On the other side, the meticulously accurate interpretation of painted objects must convince and captivate the viewer. Because the quality of a painting is essential for him, it is not uncommon for him to work on a single painting for almost a full year. Therefore, in reality, the charisma of such a painting is very unique. Kortan says about his recognition value, “For me, it is important that my style is clearly recognizable after finalizing; everybody must say this is a “Kortan.” It can not be overlooked that the icon of Fantastic Realism, the Austrian painter Prof. Ernst Fuchs, also significantly influenced Kortan’s art. I Prof. Ernst Fuchs commented on Kortan’s work as follows: t’s highly gratifying to see that there still exist artists such as Frank Kortan, who have tasted from the elixir of Emperor Rudolph II and, in the spirit of the noble art of Mannerism, keep presenting its mastery to our contemporaries’ eyes. The mastery that had already seemed extinct is essential to creating magnificent paintings in the style of the old master. May his works open the eyes of all those who have become blind through pointless art so that they are able to understand the language of paintings again.” Arche 22, 2022 Original Art. (Levi, 1986) This sentiment mirrors the purpose of my artwork. They echo the voices of the innocent children brainwashed into an ideology of hatred, of parents led astray, of the millions of lives extinguished. Let's not forget the historical truth: an estimated six million Jews were systematically exterminated during the Holocaust, with countless more people persecuted due to their ethnicity, political Art Market Magazine beliefs, or sexual orientation. These extreme ideologies were not confined to the walls of concentration camps. The medical experiments, the mass sterilizations, and the horrors unleashed in hospitals under the guise of 'science' - all represent an unspeakable abuse of human rights. (USHMM, n.d.) We see the same fanaticism echoing in other atrocities such as the Rwandan Genocide, where neighbors turned against neighbors, the Armenian Genocide that witnessed a planned and systematic annihilation, and more recently, the Rohingya Crisis in Myanmar, all sprung from the seeds of extreme ideology and hatred. But this collection is not just about exposing the gruesome reality of the past. It's about our present and, more importantly, our future. In the words of Desmond Tutu, "My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together." (Tutu, 1999) We are all human, sharing the same basic rights on the same earth. The notion of diversity should not be a tool of division but a celebration of our shared humanity. As artists, we call for a responsible society that embraces assimilation with respect, where the integration of cultures and traditions is not seen as a threat but as an enrichment of our collective human experience. To conclude, these images are a plea for us to learn from our past, recognize the signs of extreme ideologies, be it left or right, and strive for unity. They remind us that we must not become passive spectators but active participants in shaping our world. Enough is Enough Thomas Dellert © All rights reserved. ABOUT Thomas Dellert A Journey Through Art and Humanity Thomas Dellert-Dellacroix (born in Stockholm in 1953) has devoted the past forty-five years to a spectrum of artistic forms, including photography, short film, theatre, music, painting, and installation art. 118 With over 200 exhibitions across Europe and the United States, my work graces museums, official institutions, and private collections worldwide. Notably, my pieces feature in esteemed repositories such as the Absolut Vodka Collection, the Heinz Collection, the Swedish Royal Family Collection, and the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC. For me, being an artist is to walk along the razor-sharp shoreline between the sea of annihilation and the inner landscape of hope. To survive the no-man's land-where, art swings between the cruel madness of reality and the beauty and serenity of our dreams. This artistic journey unfolds on the delicate precipice where the echoes of our souls meet the apathy of our television screens. My artistic expression adopts a dual identity, embodying both humanism and satire. Art Market Magazine

Historical knowledge is alarmingly scarce in an era dominated by computer literacy and digital engagement. Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel reminded us, "The opposite of Love is not hate, it's Indifference." Albert Einstein's words also resonate, "The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything to stop it." My artistic language remains forthright, at times bordering on the violent, yet always guided by a humanistic lens. While delving into the darkness inherent in humanity, I employ irony and humor as my tools. A significant portion of my art delves into the history of the 20th century, striving to illuminate its intricacies. He is a self-taught painter. His artistic journey started during high school, and he was lucky to have a fantastic art teacher, the beloved Nikos Paralis. He automatically paints images that originate from the subconscious. Dozens of symbols and messages are hidden in his paintings, and he belongs to the surrealists he admires. "Painting is a confession. It communicates with the world, a deposit of the artist's soul. He hides a little piece of the soul in his paintings." George Anastasiadis believes everything stagnates, wears out, becomes sloppy, and dies. Everything that surrounds us and inside us is a harmonious and indivisible whole. We are immortal elements and parts of the universe. Nothing absurd or scary. Everything is simple and in our nature, just like art. His paintings come from his inner will to find and improve himself through his philosophical, rational, and metaphysical quests. His goal is to consistently evolve into a better version of himself. He has taken part in many exhibitions in Greece and abroad, and his works have been awarded many times. Art Market Magazine

G erardo La Porta, aka “GiGi or Gilaporta,” was born in 1966 in a small town in Salerno, Italy. Since childhood, he has been noticed for his artistic talents, having already been awarded at 9 in a school competition. Despite his different school career, he studied everything related to Art secretly from his parents. He is very passionate about the artists of the Renaissance and later those of the ‘900; the detail of the technique and the expression are the points that he deepened the most. He began painting with his neighbor of the same age, who had the same passions, later during work breaks. He greatly refined the technique of oil paints, alternating with acrylics and watercolor. His life changed suddenly: he decided to follow his passion for travel and started working on cruise ships, which would take him away for ten years. Instead, it gives him the opportunity to learn about new cultures, new countries, and all the Art in the world. Back in Italy, he felt the need to return to painting, to express and research new techniques in the world of Art. His artistic expression is figurative Abstract, with very bright colors and full of nuances, alternating with Pop Art with developed lines. It recalls the passion for Africa, with very marked lines and colors, the nuances of those places. His latest works have been included in the new expressive current called “Modern Impressionism,” where the overlapping of the brushstrokes recalls this style, also giving the three-dimensionality of the figures. His works are exhibited in private collections in many countries, including Italy, the United States, France, Spain, England, Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Romania, Greece, Morocco, and Egypt. Jun Gueco Cruz is a visual artist and healthcare provider who creates pieces that portray intricate biological processes at the cellular level. Born in Angeles City, Philippines, Cruz merges his indigenous Kapampangan identity, spiritual journey, and medical knowledge to create biomorphic forms of expression that showcase the transformative nature of ordinary biology. In our day-today lives, we rarely glimpse the intricate workings happening within our bodies. Our cells quietly carry out their tasks unnoticed and unacknowledged. However, Cruz’s artistic approach invites viewers to closely examine and appreciate the inner workings of our bodies, revealing the profound changes occurring at the cellular level." Cruz’s artistic prowess has garnered international recognition, with exhibitions in the United States, Asia, and Europe. His works have been displayed at prestigious events such as the Florence Biennale XI in Italy, where he represented the Philippines, Art Basel Miami, the Tokyo Tower International Art Fair in Japan, Artbox Project Zurich, Swissartexpo, Switzerland, and the Metropolitan Museum in Manila. Beyond Utopia (Falling Stars) Digital Painting. Quality print on paper. 21 x 29,7 cm. Signed manually. Rachel Jag © All rights reserved. RACHEL JAG THE AURA OF A SPACE R achel Jag, a selftaught artist currently based in Vienna, was born in the former Soviet Union (Russia) in 1985. After finishing at Sigmund Freud High School, she went on to study at the “Graphische,” a college for Print, Prepress, and Media Technology, after which she worked as a graphic designer and web developer. At a young age, she was involved in various music projects as a singer and songwriter and came to visual arts through listening to melodies that greatly impacted her. Since then, she has explored the relationship 160 between color and sound and has moved to the artistic field of visual arts. While many printing projects have followed, like screen printing on textiles and prints on paper, the relationship between color and sound kept bringing her back most strongly to the artistic field of visual arts. Drawn by melodies, the artist transforms fragments of compositions into shape and color combinations. Also, rhythmic elements are captured with her inner voice, leading a marker to be tapped onto the paper. Her works are often fragile and subtle, while on the other hand, often dramatic and bold. My artwork is never about what ‘I’ want to see; more importantly, it is about what is being shown to me and what comes through me. When it’s done, I just put it away; I don’t look for any single ‘interpretation’ or ‘message’ or some sort of translation into words. I prefer to call it a careful ‘approach’ to something undiscovered or even unknown. I might receive answers on an emotional level, but this could happen after several months, several years, or even never”. Art Market Magazine

As has always been the case in Rachel’s work, the emotional message it contains is explored. The attempt is to perceive the ‘communication ‘, to see where it takes her. Rachel’s new series of works represents shapes shown digitally in the form of dots. The artist here observes the digital working process in order to then explore how her perception of it compares with the material, physical working process. In the future, these pieces will follow in physical form to see what exactly happens emotionally and, above all, how deeply these two processes both run. The idea to go digital arose originally from necessity – a moment of limited access to physical materials. At first, she created flying objects, lightemitting flower-like creations, and other indefinable forms. Having worked with rhythmic imagery in the past, she then returned to this way of working to see what forms would emerge as she explored ‚The aura of a space ‘. Once again, the artist returned to her original artistic approach, that everything comes about almost by itself or leaves her with endless questions on an emotional level. This idea of being both the creator and the observer at the same time fascinates her. As always, every step of the process is done intuitively, from the choice of colors to the size and alignment of the dots. At the beginning, again, as always, there is a strong inner resistance, which then disappears as soon as the picture takes form. 161

BIANCA TURNER ianca Turner. Born in AlbaIulia, Romania. The art I create is deeply inspired by nature, its vivid colors, and the societal issues surrounding me. I see art as “the definition of infinity”; my work explores the continuous transmutation of the evolving essence of life and nature. Visions and words turn into colors and textures to create new narratives in this dimension of infinity. As an artist, I feel that it’s essential to bring awareness to the world regarding various problems that affect us as a whole; therefore, I focus on sending out a message to everyone about real issues that regular people have, trying to make each person think about what an individual’s impact in this life is. I believe we all must leave a legacy behind us for future generations, and my job is to transpose this concept from my art to the public. Israeli Artist. 3D. Digital Art. found out that my grandpa is Jewish when I was 17. Born and raised in Siberia, Russia, completely cut from all the Jewish parts of the history of my family, I started to get into the details quickly. Slowly, my family started to share the details and the family history story with me. The antisemitic bullying my mom went through when she was little, the fact that my grandpa had to change his father’s name because he had a Jewish one, suddenly, I learned that my family is much bigger than I knew – people in Europe, the USA, and Israel. I have been an artist for as long as I can remember; I have always had a passion for creation, art, painting, and the creative process. I tried all the possible media and made a lot of commissions, and before I moved to Israel in 2017, my favorites were oil and digital 2D. During the past years, I realized I need more than 2D, whether traditional or digital. I sought to get out of limitations and physics, which is how I fell into 3D. The environment, the drastic changes in my life, the seasons, nostalgia, and many feelings made me do what I do now, and I am convinced that I wouldn’t reach this level of skills without moving. I love the freedom, the limitless possibilities, and the complete denial of physics laws – no matter how crazy my idea is, I know that in 3D, everything is doable. I aim to translate this thought to many people as possible; Art Market Magazine 99 Luftballoons. 2020. 3D ART. Quality print on museum-quality matte paper, wooden frame included. 50 x 70 x 3 cm. It means you can implement it; it doesn’t appear out of the blue. I hope my works will make people believe a little more in themselves, in love, freedom, and possibilities. This world is huge and wonderful, but we have an even bigger one right in our hearts.” 175

MATYA SHICK I am a photographer born in Kibbutz Urim, Israel, and attained an MA in biochemistry from Tel Aviv University. I specialize in artistic aerial photography of Israeli landscapes. Nature’s changes and its disappearance and renewal are topics that interest me as an artist who has experienced some personal crises. I chose the vantage point of aerial photography, which I then ‘re-connected’ with the ground through imprinting on ceramic, porcelain tiles, metal, and other materials. The aerial photography is taken mainly from a light, twin-engine plane, Air Cam, which has been developed and adjusted significantly for National Geographic. It has no canopy and can fly low and slow. The shooting is done while flying, without a tripod, and in constant wind, so my reaction speed and a steady hand are vital. My work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in Israel and abroad, among them B.P. Art, Tel – Aviv; Tel-Hai Museum of Photography; Anne Julie Gallery, Denmark; Montefiore Gallery, Jaffa Art Salon, Venice Art Biennale, Venice; Saatchi Gallery, London; and in the Knesset, Israeli House of Parliament. 178 Salty Weave. 2015 Photography.
