Using when, while, during and for
in stories
When we talk about actions or situations that take
place at the same time, we can use when or while.
• Maggie hurt her leg when/whlle she was Jogging.
• / was talking to Penny when/while you were
playing tennis.
If we are talking about a single event at a particular
time, we can only use when.
•	Jane was sixteen when she first met David.
Look at these examples using during and for:
•	I'm staying with my cousin during the holidays.
(= part of the holidays)
•	Гт staying with my cousin for the holidays.
(= the whole of the holidays)
Note: We use during/for with nouns.
